What is cashback?
Retailers in the USA spent over 206 Billion dollars in 2017 trying to promote their products to the general public. Fluz captures some of that market share by providing a simple and guaranteed way for retailers to attract new customers and retain older ones. With the Fluz model, merchants only pay when they make an actual sale, making it much more efficient than spending large amounts of money on TV or billboard ads that might not be a cost-effective way to convert sales.
Since Fluz has a direct connection with such a large amount of shoppers, and retailers only pay once they realize a sale, it saves them money to market their brand through Fluz and pay their customers a portion of their marketing budget directly. This is what the retailers call “cashback."
How much cashback do I receive for my gift card purchase?
Our cashback amount will depend on the merchant's offer and the funding source that you use to purchase the gift card.
When will I receive my cashback from a Fluz purchase?
Any cashback earned will appear immediately in your Fluz Rewards Balance after you successfully make a purchase.
How can I keep track of the cashback I’ve received?
You can check your cashback balance directly on Fluz app or website. Just login to your account and tap on the Fluz Wallet icon. There, you will find all of your wallet activity, including a breakdown of the personal cashback earned, and network cash back earned.
Do I have to pay taxes on my Fluz Rewards or cashback earnings?
If you make $600 or more from Fluz (not including your personal cashback), Fluz is required by law to submit a 1099 tax form to the IRS for your account.
The cashback you get on your purchases is treated as a discount and is not taxable. However, all other money you earn from Fluz (challenges, bonuses, Referral Royalties) is 1099 income and will count towards that $600.
Towards the end of the year, Fluz may start reporting and we may be requiring information such as SSN, legal name, billing address, and date of birth via the "verify your legal identity" function on the mobile app, to issue you 1099 at the end of the tax year.
While Fluz will not withhold any earnings for tax purposes, the IRS will be receiving a copy of your 1099 at the end of the year, which will state exactly how much cashback you accrued for that tax season. You will be expected to pay a portion of that total reward amount to the IRS, along with your usual annual tax payments.
The exact percentage rate at which you will be taxed on your Fluz earnings will vary between individuals, and factors such as total household income, number of dependents, etc. will mean that no exact blanket percentage can be given.
Fluz recommends meeting with your Certified Public Accountant to confirm that proper filings are in place for your situation. Fluz can not offer any type of personalized tax consulting.
I'm an international user, do I have to pay tax on my cashback?
International users, also known as non-U.S. persons, will not be issued a 1099 form at the end of the tax year.
Do I have to scan my receipt or do any other manual recording to earn cashback on my purchase?
No, Fluz has made it super easy to track and earn cashback on the items you buy.
No receipt fumbling, product barcode scanning, or manual tracking of any kind is used within our app, and beyond making the actual Fluz purchase from within the app, users do not have to take any action to earn their cash back.
All your purchased gift cards can be found on the app in the Menu (your avatar) icon at the top left of your screen. Click on it, then select My Gift Cards. This page will default to your ACTIVE gift cards or gift cards that have not been used or still have value. If you want to see details on the gift cards that you've already used, tap on INACTIVE.
On the Website, select the Cards option on the top right of the panel. Toggle to gift cards, and you will see your ACTIVE gift cards by default. If you want to see details on the gift cards that you've already used, toggle to INACTIVE on the top left of the screen.
Help: I never received cashback for my Fluz purchase.
You should see the cashback from your Fluz purchase reflected in your Fluz wallet within seconds.
