Primary payment method, preferred payment method, how to add a preferred payment method

Fluz allows you to set a preferred payment method to be used whenever you purchase with the app. This allows for a faster and smoother check-out process.

Read below and learn about your preferred payment method.

What is a preferred payment method?

A preferred payment method is a pre-selected and recommended funding source for your purchases with Fluz. The accepted preferred payment methods are:

  • ACH or bank account

  • Debit card

How do I set-up my preferred payment method?

If you have not set-up your preferred payment method, you can do so by Visiting the Accounts & Cards page.

1. From the Menu icon on the top of the screen, navigate to the Accounts & cards page.

2. On the Accounts & cards page, tap on the Add a preferred primary funding source option.

(If you have not connected any funding source, please Add new. We always recommend that you connect your ACH/bank account and debit card to maximize your earnings with Fluz)

3. On the Preferred funding source page, set your primary funding source by tapping on the connected payment methods available.

Can I still change my funding sources even if I have already set my preferred payment method?

Yes. Your preferred funding source will come as your first recommended payment method but you are still able to change your payment method during check-out if you wish to do so.

What happens if I don't set a preferred payment method?

Given that only bank accounts or debit cards are accepted as preferred payment methods, it is possible that you won't be able to set a preferred payment method.

In that case, the app will default to any one of your linked payment methods (credit cards or digital wallets), and you'll still be able to change it each time you make a purchase.

Can I choose payment methods for different types of purchase?

Yes. Fluz allows you to get more granular with your preferences. You will be able to set different payment methods for different types of transactions:

Can I choose payment methods for different types of merchant categories (MCC)?

Yes. You can get more specific with your preferences by setting a preferred funding source for what merchant code category (or MCC) a merchant is tagged as in the Fluz app. This will allow you to default a specific credit card as the main card when transacting on a merchant that is in that category.

You can assign a credit card when you purchase a gift card from a "travel" merchant like Delta or a "dining" merchant like Olive Garden.

Below are the steps in setting up your credit card as a preferred funding source per MCC:

1. From the Menu icon on the top of the screen, navigate to the Accounts & cards page.

2. On the Accounts and cards page, scroll down to Connected Accounts until you see your connected Bank Cards.

3. Tap on the bank card icon and select Category preferences.

4. Choose a preferred category for this card by tapping on the category name and icon. Only one card can be used as preferred for a single MCC and vice versa.

NOTE: If a card is assigned to a merchant category, it will default as the funding source for any transaction made with a merchant in that category. It will override the preferred payment method that was assigned in the advanced preferences or the primary preference. You are still able to change your funding source during check-out if you wish to do so.

Setting a "nickname" for your payment methods

Fluz allows you to label your funding sources with nicknames to avoid confusion. Follow the steps below on how to add a nickname:

1. From the Menu icon on the top of the screen, navigate to the Accounts & cards page.

2. On the Accounts and cards page, scroll down to Connected Accounts.

3. For Bank Accounts: Select the account you want to label by tapping on it;

For Credit/Debt Cards: Tap on the Manage icon.

4. On the payment method page, tap on Nickname and type on the provided field. Tip, keep it short and easy to remember.

5. Tap on Done at the bottom of the screen to complete the process. You may need to tap on 'return' or 'back' on the keypad to see Done button.

The nickname of your funding source will appear on the checkout page every time you purchase a gift card or complete a transaction in the app.
