How to redeem, check balance, terms & help desk, bookstore, books, magazines

How to redeem:

  • Mobile/Desktop:

    1. During checkout, on the ‘Payment Method’ page, scroll down to ‘B&N Gift Card.’

    2. Enter your digital gift card number and PIN, select ‘Apply.’

  • In-app:

    1. During checkout, on the ‘Payment Details’ section, tap ‘Add Gift Card.’

    2. Enter your digital gift card number and PIN, tap ‘Apply.’

  • In-store:

    1. During checkout, show your digital gift card barcode and PIN.

    2. The cashier will scan your barcode and enter the PIN.

How to check your balance:

  • Mobile/Desktop:

    1. After reading instructions, click here.

    2. Enter your digital gift card number and PIN. Select ‘Check Balance.’

    3. Your current gift card balance will be displayed.

  • In-app:

    1. Open the Barnes & Noble App. Tap the tab button and select ‘Gift Card Balance.’

    2. Enter your digital gift card number and PIN. Tap ‘Check Balance.’

    3. Your current gift card balance will be displayed.

  • In-store:

    1. Ask the cashier to check a gift card balance.

    2. Scan your digital gift card barcode and PIN.

Abridged terms and conditions:

  • Gift Cards have no expiration dates.

  • Not redeemable for:

    • Nook Audiobooks and NOOK Magazine/Newspaper subscriptions cannot be purchased using gift card.

  • Single issues of NOOK Magazine or Newspaper can be purchased with gift card. To redeem a Gift Card for a NOOK Book, single issue NOOK Magazine, or single issue NOOK Newspaper, you must first save the Gift Card to your account by visiting the "My Account" page and clicking on the "Manage Gift Cards for eBooks" link. You must also save a default credit card into your account in order to purchase a NOOK Book, NOOK Newspaper, or NOOK Magazine, even if you are redeeming a Gift Card. Once a Gift Card(s) is saved to your account, any available Gift Card balance will be redeemed first when you purchase a NOOK Book, single issue NOOK Newspaper, or single issue NOOK Magazine.

  • Returns: In-store: Show your gift card code with the receipt. The cashier will enter your gift card code and the refund amount will reflect your gift card balance within 24-48 hours.

  • Locations:

    • Gift Cards can be used at any Barnes & Noble store nationwide (U.S.) and at BN.com. They can also be used at any Barnes & Noble College or Bookstar location.
