Understanding How Your Funds Are Captured for Virtual Card Transactions

When you make a purchase using your virtual card, we authorize and temporarily hold funds from your account to cover the transaction. In some cases, if the full amount is not captured by the merchant, we will issue a refund for the difference once the authorization expires. Below, we outline the two main scenarios where this occurs.

In-Store Transactions with Tipping

If you use your Fluz Digital Wallet Card at a restaurant, convenience store, specialty store, or barber shop where tipping is common, an additional 20% will be temporarily added to the authorized amount to account for the tip. Here’s how it works:

  1. You dine at a restaurant and your bill is $100.

  2. The initial authorization includes a 20% tip, so we collect $120 from your account.

  3. However, when the transaction is finalized, you actually tipped 18%, making the total charge $118.

  4. After two days, we issue a $2 refund to your Fluz Balance or original funding source for the difference. The reason we wait for two days is to allow time for any adjustments to the final transaction amount before issuing a refund.

Online Transactions with Multi-Vendor Purchases

For purchases involving multiple items shipped separately—such as orders from Amazon where different items come from different vendors—we handle authorizations differently:

  1. You place an order with Merchant A for three different items from three different vendors:

    • Item 1: $100

    • Item 2: $100

    • Item 3: $100

    • Total: $300

  2. We authorize and collect the full $300 from your account upfront. This simplifies the payment process and reduces multiple deductions from your account.

  3. If Merchant A voids Item 3 before shipping and we receive a void notification, we will process your refund immediately. However, if we do not receive the void notification, the $100 refund will be issued after 30 days

This means you will see a single charge when funds are authorized but separate refunds when applicable.
